Limerick SHC: Kilmallock dethrone kingpins Na Piarsaigh

Kilmallock defeated Na Piarsaigh to win the Limerick Senior Hurling Championship title for the first time in five years. The match was decided by three key goals in a highly competitive final at TUS Gaelic Grounds.
Why it matters
This result marks a significant shift in the competitive landscape of local Irish hurling, a major cultural sport.
Limerick kingpins Na Piarsaigh have been dethroned by Kilmallock as the Balbac tasted Limerick Senior Hurling Championship title success at a sun-drenched TUS Gaelic Grounds for first time in five years.
Goals from Limerick star Shane O'Brien, Oisin O'Reilly, and Graeme Mulcahy proved to be the difference as Kilmallock won the John Daly Cup for a 13th time, their first since overcoming Patrickswell in 2021.
After a slow start, James Hickey’s charges turned the game on its head, leading for the first time just before the half-time break, until William O’Donoghue’s goal seven minutes from time, before restoring their lead just 40 seconds later as Oisin O’Reilly found the net.
A repeat of the 2022 final, Na Piarsaigh were in search of their seventh Limerick senior title in 10 years, while Kilmallock hoped to lift the John Daly Cup for the first time since 2021.
