Lightning kills an elderly woman

A 60-year-old woman died after being struck by lightning at Panaiyavayal in Avudaiyarkoil police station limits in the district on Thursday evening. The woman, identified as G. Jeyakodi, was grazing goats near Kuruvadi Kanmai at the time. A resident of Nettiyenthal, she died on the spot and the body was shifted to Government Hospital, Aranthangi, for autopsy. The Avudaiyarkoil police are investigating.
