Dindigul district has been experiencing severe heat reminiscent of the ‘Agni Nakshatram’ (peak summer). Light to moderate rainfall was recorded on Monday and Tuesday in the district, which provided much-needed respite from the scorching heat.
Light to moderate rain lashed Dindigul for about an hour and a half on Monday night. It resulted in waterlogging in many parts of the city and other parts of the district. Vehicle users and pedestrians faced hardship particularly near the Anjali roundabout bridge in Dindigul due to waterlogging.
In Sakthi Balaji Nagar, located in Chettinaickenpatti panchayat near Dindigul, rainwater had stagnated in the area. The area had turned into a pond. Residents blamed the lack of a proper drainage system for the current situation. They said they were unable to step out of their homes due to waterlogging.
