The special court for POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) Act cases has awarded life imprisonment to a youth who sexually assaulted a 10-year-old girl.
According to prosecution, Esakkiappan, 36, from a village under Valliyoor police sub-division sexually assaulted a 10-year-old girl in October 2020. Following complaint from the victim’s mother on October 19, 2020, the Valliyoor All Women Police filed a case and arrested Esakkiappan.
The magistrate of Special Court for POCSO Cases Suresh Kumar on Friday awarded life imprisonment to Esakkiappan and slapped a fine of Rs. 10,000 on him.
