Letters to The Editor — July 10, 2026

The editorial section addresses the failure of the Iran-U.S. ceasefire and criticizes the unauthorized sale of student databases from the CUET and NEET exams. It calls for stronger data protection enforcement and international intervention in West Asian conflicts.
Why it matters
These letters highlight public concern over geopolitical instability and the critical need for digital privacy protections in the Indian education sector.
It is deplorable that the much-hyped ceasefire agreement between Iran and the U.S. is already fizzling out, signalling prolonged military hostilities in the war-ravaged region. It is equally baffling that the United Nations has remained a silent spectator to the cascading effects of the conflict in West Asia. This only goes to show that peace accords brokered by regional non-state actors are unlikely to foster a durable ceasefire.
The Hindu generally leans toward institutional accountability and social protection, which is reflected in the critical stance on data privacy and international diplomacy.
