Why it matters
It offers a behind-the-scenes look at major gaming industry trade shows, reflecting the shift toward more personal, creator-led content in gaming journalism.
I’ve been wanting to share some of my adventures from Gamescom and Tokyo Game Show for weeks now, but I wasn’t really sure how best to package it.
Then, earlier this week while I was out running, I realised I didn’t really need a big overarching theme or some inspirational message – what if I just posted the best bits in a big fat gallery-style article, with anecdotes?
I don’t know how many people will be interested in this, but this is content sitting on the cutting room floor, so I’m going to give it a go.
Also, I think it’s fun to show some of the stuff happening outside of the previews; obviously they’re the meat-and-potatoes of why you come to the site, but we’re trying to be a bit looser and more personal with our content these days, so why not give it a try?
