According to the Forest Department, the attack occurred around 1 a.m. on a farm owned by Muthayee of K.N. Palayam, which falls under the K.N. Palayam forest beat. The incident came to the notice of the Forest Department around 8 a.m., following which frontline staff inspected the site. Officials found leopard pugmarks near the shed and evidence that one of the goats had been dragged into the adjoining forest and partially consumed by the animal.
