Legendary actor passes away!

South African actor Mfana-Jones Hlophe has passed away at age 53 following a long battle with Type 1 diabetes. Known for his roles in popular productions like Generations: The Legacy and Uzalo, he will be laid to rest in Durban.

The 53-year-old Umlazi-born star, who played the problematic Nimrod on SABC1’s Generations: The Legacy , passed away on Wednesday night at Charlotte Maxeke Hospital in Joburg after a long battle with Type 1 diabetes.
His brother, Bonani Mambi, confirmed the heartbreaking news to Daily Sun .
“He passed away on Wednesday night around 8:30pm to 8:45pm. He was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital. We’re not sure if he died on the way to hospital or upon arrival,” he said.
Bonani said Mfana-Jones had been living with diabetes for a long time and family members were helping him manage the condition, including reminding him to eat on time.
