Left parties stage demo demanding resignation of CEC

Demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, the Left parties jointly organised a demonstration in front of the railway junction here on Thursday.
The CPI, CPI(M) and CPI(M-L) cadres said the Chief Election Commissioner should step down immediately ‘for being submissive’ to the ‘wicked strategies’ of the BJP and ‘supporting’ the ruling party’s electoral gains in various States.
While several political parties raised objections over the ‘shoddy manner’ in which the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls was conducted across the country, opposition from his own colleagues in the Election Commission justified their demand for the resignation of the CEC, they said.
