Left front names candidates for T.N. bypolls

The Communist Party of India (Marxist) and the Communist Party of India (CPI) on Tuesday announced P. Suganthi and P. Lakshmanan as the candidates of the Left Front for the ensuing Assembly bypolls to Madurantakam and Dharapuram, respectively.

During a joint press conference at the CPI (M) headquarters in Chennai, the party’s State secretary P. Shanmugam, CPI State secretary M. Veerapandian and CPI (ML) Liberation State secretary Pazha. Asaithambi announced the candidates.

Ms. Suganthi, who holds a Master’s degree in Arts and a Bachelor of Education degree, is the general secretary of the Tamil Nadu Untouchability Eradication Front. Earlier, she had served as general secretary of the All India Democratic Women’s Association.
