The Leatherman Wave Alpha is one of its most popular multi-tools and for good reason. The US-made Leatherman has the majority of tools most users will need in a multi-tool. We tested the newest, premium version in the Wave series, the Wave Alpha, which includes a MagnaCut steel blade and many of the same tools as on our overall top pick multi-tool, the Leatherman ARC.
As such, it matches the ARC’s best-in-testing knife edge, saw, pliers, and wire cutters (albeit at a slightly less expensive price point). While we tested the Wave Alpha, the Wave also is available in the less expensive Wave Plus version with 420HC knives (serrated and non-serrated), and starts at $130.
