Businessman Lawrence Mudzinganyama has been released on R15,000 bail after appearing in the Randburg magistrate’s court on Thursday to face 10 charges, including intimidation, assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, crimen injuria and fraud.
The 40-year-old’s appearance follows his arrest on September 20 in connection with an incident at Vlamo Restaurant in Sandton that went viral on social media.
Mudzinganyama was initially arrested on a charge of intimidation and released on a warning to appear in court on October 1. However, National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) spokesperson Kaizer Kganyago said further investigations resulted in additional charges being brought against him.
“After further investigations, including the securing of witness statements and video footage, the state has brought additional charges against him,” said Kganyago.
