Lawless launches Mayo Bones Bus to help orthopaedic patients access treatment

DEPUTY Paul Lawless has announced the launch of the Mayo Bones Bus, an initiative aimed at helping people suffering from hip, knee and other bone and joint conditions who are facing lengthy hospital waiting lists.

The initiative builds on the success of the Mayo Cataract Bus, established by Deputy Lawless in 2019, which has helped hundreds of patients in the county regain their sight through access to treatment under the Cross Border Directive.

Speaking about the new project, Deputy Lawless said: "I founded the Mayo Cataract Bus because of the severe waiting lists facing patients in Mayo. Since the first bus left the county in 2019, hundreds of people have regained their sight and improved their quality of life.
