Launch of plaza at Chennai airport postponed again

In what could further frustrate air passengers, the launch of the plaza at Chennai airport, which was scheduled for Saturday, has once again been deferred.
According to officials of the Airports Authority of India (AAI), the Minister for Civil Aviation Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu had to cancel his visit to the city on Saturday, as he was called to attend the BRICS Summit held in New Delhi.
“We received a communication from New Delhi on Wednesday that the visit was confirmed, and hence the launch was planned. But on Thursday, there was a change of plan due to the BRICS Summit. Now, it is unclear what the revised date of opening is,” an official said.
The plaza is earmarked as the second designated cab pick-up point at Chennai airport, and air passengers have been looking forward to the facility as it will significantly ease the process of boarding taxis.
