Latvian troops training for rapid mobilization, infrastructure protection

During the exercise, brigade soldiers and national guardsmen, together with other units of the National Armed Forces and allies, will train in the protection of critical infrastructure, base protection, as well as the ability to respond in a coordinated manner to a hybrid threat. Air Force helicopter support operations, including casualty evacuation training, will also be implemented. “We can only protect Rīga and our country by working shoulder to shoulder. The tasks of the Riga Brigade in the conditions of the capital and its surroundings are specific and dynamic, so training in a real urban environment is the only way to test the effectiveness of plans,” said Lieutenant Colonel Ēriks Keisters, Commander of the 1st Riga Brigade of the National Guard. During the training, cooperation with state security institutions, municipalities and businesses will be tested, including the State Police and the State Border Guard.
