Latvia's Eurovision Supernova song cycle starts again soon
Latvia's Eurovision selection show, Supernova, has announced new rules for its 2026 cycle, including a venue change and a ban on AI-generated music. The competition will feature a new two-stage final format to determine the winner.

Supernova is the Latvian qualification show for the Eurovision Song Contest. Viewers and listeners will find out in November which participants selected by the anonymous jury will make the televised stages of the competition. In a new development, the Supernova final will take place not at Latvian Television's studios but on February 6th at the Xiaomi Arena to allow for a large number of ticket sales to be made. Another new feature will be the way the winner is decided. The February 6th show will include both a 'Grand Final' to pick three acts and then a 'Super Final' to finally determine the actual winner. "It will be a real music festival with magnificent surprises and special musical guests.
