Latvia, Estonia, Ukraine joining forces to clean up the world
Latvia, Estonia, and Ukraine are collaborating to host the ninth annual World Cleanup Day, with central operations based in Riga, Tallinn, and Kyiv. The campaign aims to mobilize 5% of the global population to participate in environmental cleanup efforts.
Why it matters
This initiative demonstrates international cooperation on environmental sustainability and the use of global media hubs to drive mass civic engagement.
Latvia will cooperate with Estonia, which will operate a global call centre in Tallinn, while a global media center will be located in Kyiv, Ukraine. The Global Live Broadcast Centre will be located at Riga City Council, and a World Cleanup Activity Centre ("WCD Village") will operate in the Town Hall Square. The global live broadcast will take place from 11:00 to 14:00 and from 16:00 to 19:00 (Latvian time). “This year, the World Cleanup Global Broadcast will take place from the Latvian capital of Riga, celebrating the efforts of Latvian cleanup workers over many years to clean up our land, as well as in solidarity with cleanup workers around the world who are not indifferent to the future of the planet.
