A fire broke out at the family home of the late Tamale Central Member of Parliament, Murtala Mohammed, on Wednesday, August 5, destroying nine of the 17 rooms in the building.
3News reported that residents and emergency responders made frantic efforts to bring the fire under control.

The Northern Regional Public Relations Officer of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), ADO I Hudu Baba, told Channel One News that the Service received a distress call at 3:29 p.m. Firefighters reached the property eight minutes later at 3:37 p.m.
