The withdrawal of the cashless payment option at the Tiruchi Corporation’s tax collection centres is proving to be an irritant for many a tax payer in the city.
For several years now, credit cards were being accepted at the Tax Collection Centres functioning at the Corporation’s main office and the various zones in the city. However, the facility has been withdrawn over the past few months, forcing tax payers to carry cash to remit their property tax, drinking water and underground drainage charges.
In the absence of any formal notification of the change, many tax payers are being caught unawares. An ATM situated adjacent to the Tax Collection Centre at the Corporation Main Office is also defunct, point out irate tax payers.
