L-G calls for action plan to promote Delhi’s heritage, creative economy

Lieutenant-Governor (L-G) Taranjit Singh Sandhu on Wednesday directed the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) to explore the use of its land for cultural and creative activities, while asking the agency and the Tourism Department to prepare an action plan to promote the Capital’s heritage, arts and design traditions.

According to an official release issued by Lok Niwas, the L-G chaired a meeting with the DDA Vice-Chairman, the Tourism Secretary and other officials, during which he said the national capital should develop its own globally recognised cultural events through public-private partnerships and focus more on expanding its night-time cultural and commercial economy.

He said such events could become recurring fixtures on Delhi’s calendar, attracting visitors while providing opportunities for artists, performers and small businesses.
