There was no sign of the anxiety Kylie Minogue had admitted to during the week as she delivered a glorious celebration of disco-pop in the AFL grand final pre-game show at the MCG on Saturday.

“I’m hoping I don’t get too overcome with emotion – I might,” she had said in the days leading up to her performance, urging herself to “hold it together, hold it together” .

She did so much more than that. She blew us away with a 20-minute set full of colour, movement, hits, guest appearances, and celebratory nods to her hometown and her life in it.
