Kwaku Ofosu elected Afigya Sekyere East NPP chair, backs Bawumia's 2028 bid

Newly elected New Patriotic Party (NPP) Chairman for the Afigya Sekyere East Constituency, Kwaku Ofosu, has called for unity after securing a commanding victory in a constituency election that was briefly disrupted by violence.
Ofosu won 893 votes against 255 for his closest challenger, Daniel Gyimah, in Sunday’s poll at the SDA Church polling station in Wiamoase.
Five ballots were rejected out of the 1,153 votes cast, according to official results declared by the Electoral Commission.
Party officials described Ofosu’s victory margin as the largest recorded in the constituency’s history and said the newly elected executives would focus on healing divisions and mobilising the party’s grassroots supporters in preparation for future elections.
Speaking after his victory, Ofosu said it was time to put the contest behind the party and work together to rebuild the constituency ahead of the 2028 general elections.
