The environmental damage caused by waste can be reduced to a large extent by scientifically managing solid waste through Integrated Solid Waste Management (ISWM) plants and Waste-to-Energy plants, said Swachh Andhra Corporation Chairman Kommareddy Pattabhiram.

Mr. Pattabhiram on Tuesday inspected the Gargeyapuram dumpyard on the outskirts of Kurnool along with Kurnool Municipal Corporation (KMC) Commissioner Challa Obulesu. He inspected the Waste-to-Energy plant and also the Integrated Solid Waste Management plant currently under construction and enquired about their progress. He directed officials and contractors to complete the Integrated Solid Waste Management plant by the end of this month and ensure that processing operations commence next month.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Pattabhiram said that as part of the initiative to keep Kurnool city clean, 10 lakh metric tonnes of garbage accumulated over decades across approximately 60 acres at Gargeyapuram and Joharapuram dumpyards are being remediated through bio-mining.
