Kurnool MP Bastipati Nagaraju on Wednesday called for effective implementation of the Union government’s development and welfare initiatives to speed up the district’s growth.
The MP was chairing the District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee (DISHA) meeting at the Collectorate here.
He reviewed the progress of various centrally sponsored schemes in the presence of District Collector A. Siri, ZP chairperson Errabothula Papireddy, district MLAs and senior officials.
Addressing the meeting, the MP expressed concern over poor rainfall attributed to El Niño conditions. He said that the district was facing a challenging agricultural season and urged officials to prepare measures to ensure irrigation water for the upcoming Rabi crop. He observed that the rain-shadow parts of western Kurnool remained economically backward and required focused intervention to strengthen farm incomes and rural livelihoods.
