Peshawar - Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi on Friday appreciated the performance of the Provincial Ombudsperson, saying the institution was playing an important role in providing speedy and inexpensive justice to the people, particularly in safeguarding women's rights.
The Governor expressed these views during a meeting with Provincial Ombudsperson Rubab Mehdi at the Governor House, where she presented the institution's annual performance report.
During the meeting, Rubab Mehdi informed the Governor that the institution had taken effective measures to ensure women's legal rights, resulting in the restoration of properties worth approximately Rs4.1 billion to women across the province. She said the institution had conducted more than 19,000 hearings during the past year and was disposing of an average of 80 to 200 complaints and cases on a daily basis.
