Kummanam raises concerns over Sabarimala pilgrim season preparations

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national executive member Kummanam Rajasekharan has criticised the United Democratic Front (UDF) government for failing to withdraw the cases against those who participated in the Sabarimala protests in 2018. He also accused the State government and the Travancore Devaswom Board (TDB) of failing to make adequate preparations for the forthcoming pilgrimage season.

Addressing a press conference in Thiruvananthapuram on Wednesday, Mr. Rajasekharan said the mass agitation in 2018 was a completely justified movement aimed at protecting the custom of Sabarimala and safeguarding the interests of millions of devotees.

With only 55 days left for the annual Mandalam-Makaravilakku pilgrimage season, Mr. Rajasekharan cautioned that the government and the TDB had failed to put basic infrastructure and safety measures in place.
