His Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Asantehene, is expected to return to Kumasi on Thursday, September 3, 2026, following an important trip to the United States.

The Ashanti Regional Coordinating Council (ARCC), Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA), Manhyia Palace, Asanteman Council and Kumasi Traditional Council have announced an elaborate welcome procession to celebrate the Asantehene’s safe return.

During his visit to the United States, Otumfuo delivered a lecture at Howard University in Washington, D.C., on the theme, “Governance, Cultural Preservation, Traditional Leadership and the Enduring Connections Between Ghana and the Global African Diaspora.”

He also observed the Akwasidae festival and held a high-level engagement with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce in Washington, D.C., among other engagements.

Upon arrival at the Prempeh I International Airport, the Asantehene will receive a ceremonial welcome from the security services, including a parade and the taking of the ceremonial salute.
