KP Food Authority stresses vitamin A, D fortification of edible oil

Peshawar - The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Food Safety and Halal Food Authority has stressed strict compliance with mandatory fortification of edible oil with vitamins A and D to help address micronutrient deficiencies and improve public health.
The authority organised a one-day training session for owners and representatives of edible oil mills at its Committee Room in collaboration with Nutrition International on Wednesday.
The session focused on edible oil quality, quality assurance and control, food safety protocols and the prescribed standards for vitamin A and D fortification. Director General of the Food Safety and Halal Food Authority Kashif Iqbal Jilani chaired the session. Director Operations Yousaf Khan, Provincial Manager Nutrition International Imtiaz Ali Shah, Associate Professor at the University of Agriculture Peshawar Dr Yasir, representatives of edible oil mills and other experts attended.
