Peshawar - Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Muhammad Sohail Afridi on Saturday criticised the federal government over repeated increases in petroleum prices, saying the move had added to the hardships of low-income households already struggling with economic pressures.
Addressing the 58th meeting of the Provincial Cabinet, he said the successive fuel-price increases reflected the absence of a coherent federal economic policy. He alleged that those who had come to power by undermining the public mandate and through "backdoor" means were more concerned with protecting their interests than providing relief to the people.

Mr Afridi said petroleum prices were being increased while the country was simultaneously being run through additional borrowing.
