Kozhikode youth alleges abduction, blackmail by six-member gang

The Chevayur police have registered a case based on a complaint by a 21-year-old who alleged that he was abducted, confined, and blackmailed by a six-member gang during a visit to Bengaluru. The complainant alleged that the group recorded private videos of him and demanded ₹8 lakh, threatening to circulate the footage if he failed to pay.

The police have launched an investigation with the assistance of the cyber cell and are examining digital evidence, including mobile phone records, to identify the accused.

According to the complaint, the youth, a resident of Kozhikode, travelled to Bengaluru on July 24 to meet a friend and stayed at the latter's flat. He alleged that a group took him outside on the pretext of introducing him to another acquaintance.
