Kingsley Atta secures Bantama NPP chairmanship with slim 4

Kingsley Atta has been elected as the NPP Constituency Chairman for Bantama after a re-run election, narrowly defeating the incumbent Fiifi Mensah. The election followed the annulment of a previous result due to procedural breaches, and the new chairman has called for party unity.
Why it matters
Internal party elections are critical for organizational stability and electoral strategy in the lead-up to national general elections.
Delegates of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Bantama Constituency have elected Kingsley Atta as the new Constituency Chairman following a keenly contested re-run election held on Saturday, August 8, 2026, at the Kumasi Cultural Centre.
Mr Atta secured victory by a slim margin of four votes, defeating his closest contender and incumbent Chairman, Fiifi Mensah.
The election was supervised by officials of the Electoral Commission (EC) and observed by national and regional executives of the NPP.
According to the certified results declared by the EC’s Returning Officer, Kingsley Atta polled 570 votes, representing 50.2 per cent, while Fiifi Mensah obtained 566 votes, representing 49.8 per cent.
The narrow margin marks a sharp contrast to the annulled election held on Sunday, July 12, 2026, where Mr Atta defeated Mr Mensah by a landslide.
