The Tooro Kingdom has issued an urgent appeal for calm and prayers following official confirmation that the Omukama (King) of Tooro, Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV, is critically ill. The development was confirmed in an official statement released on Thursday, August 27, 2026, by the Kingdom’s Prime Minister (Omuhikirwa), Calvin Armstrong Rwomiire Akiiki.

Addressing the Tooro subjects and the broader public via a statement posted on X (formerly Twitter), the Prime Minister conveyed the grave health situation of the 34-year-old monarch, who has ruled the Western Uganda kingdom since succeeding his father, King Patrick David Matthew Kaboyo Olimi III, in September 1995.
