King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden Shares Condolences After the Death of Princess Astrid of Norway

The Norwegian royal family is facing a second loss in a single week. Just two days after the state funeral of King Harald V, the Royal House of Norway announced on Friday that Princess Astrid, Harald’s last surviving sibling, had died at the age of 94. Among the first foreign royals to offer condolences was King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden, who had seen Astrid in person only days earlier.In a statement, Carl XVI Gustaf said: “The Queen and I have received with sadness the news that Princess Astrid, Mrs. Ferner, has passed away. A few days ago we had the opportunity to meet and speak with Princess Astrid in connection with King Harald's funeral—a meeting we valued greatly.
