Kindiki: There is no East or West in Mt Kenya

Deputy President Kithure Kindiki addresses residents during his visit to Kieni Constituency, Nyeri County, where he inspected development projects on September 25 / DPCS Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has vowed to uphold a directive by Mt Kenya elders to unite the region, saying political differences should not divide communities that have historically acted as one.

Kindiki said elders had tasked him, as the region's senior-most political leader, with ensuring Mt Kenya does not split into East and West along political and party lines.

“I have clear orders to unite Mt Kenya region. We might be affiliated to different formations but the elders requested me to ensure peaceful political contests. Aspirants will sell their agenda and voters will decide who to vote for,” he said.

The Deputy President spoke on Friday while inspecting development projects in Kieni Constituency, Nyeri county.
