Relatives of a man who allegedly died in police custody attempted to approach Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay’s convoy and submit a petition outside the Secretariat on Thursday.
The incident occurred when the convoy was proceeding from his Neelankarai residence to the Secretariat. Over 100 people had gathered near the entrance of Fort St. George to meet the Chief Minister.
Among them were Rajesh Kannan, 50, his wife Anandhi, 43, relatives of Akash Delison, who allegedly died in police custody at the Manamadurai police station in March. The family alleged that though a case had been registered against six police personnel, no action had been taken and sought a CB-CID probe.
