Mitral stenosis is a condition in which the mitral valve, located between the left atrium and left ventricle of the heart, becomes narrowed, restricting the flow of blood between the two chambers. In this case, the narrowing was attributed to chronic rheumatic heart disease. If severe and left untreated, the condition can place increasing strain on the heart and lead to complications.
