The judge overseeing the deportation case of Kilmar Abrego Garcia canceled a hearing in the case that had been scheduled for Tuesday.
Abrego Garcia, who was returned to the U.S. after being mistakenly deported to a Salvadoran mega-prison, arrived at federal court in Maryland Tuesday afternoon to continue fighting his deportation case, at which point the judge canceled the hearing.
Abrego Garcia's attorney, Simon Sandoval-Moshenberg, told reporters after emerging from the courtroom that the hearing was unable to go forward and that an update on the next steps in the case would be posted on the court's docket.
"We're not able to have any more comment at this time," Sandoval-Moshenberg said.
