The /Khai-/Khaua Traditional Authority has released land near Berseba for agricultural development to support Namibia's food security goals. Government officials are currently assessing the area for projects that will utilize water from the Neckartal Dam.
Why it matters
This initiative represents a collaborative effort between traditional leadership and the government to stimulate rural economic growth and employment.
The /Khai-/Khaua Traditional Authority has made land near Berseba available for agricultural development to boost the government’s food security and rural development agenda.
Speaking at the /Khai-/Khaua Traditional Authority Cultural Festival in Mariental on Saturday, prime minister Elijah Ngurare said the government is busy assessing land near Snyfontein and Kameelrivier for agricultural projects, with water from the Neckartal Dam expected to support farming in the Hardap and ||Kharas regions.
He encouraged other traditional authorities to release land for productive use, saying “such partnerships can create jobs, strengthen rural economies and improve food security”.
