Keralam social worker Mavoorus Maliyekkal dies

Mavoorus Maliyekkal, a 90-year-old social worker known for his dedication to street children, has passed away in Kochi. His funeral is scheduled for September 16 at St. Teresa’s Church in Thrissur.

The funeral will be held at St. Teresa’s Church, Kottackal near Mala in Thrissur on Wednesday, September 16, 2026. The body will be kept at the Gandhinagar ground gallery park in Ernakulam from 9 a.m to 11 a.m for the public to pay homage, according to a communication.
In his social work spanning over several decades, he worked for the welfare and rehabilitation of street children.
