Why it matters
The case underscores the intersection of domestic abuse, digital privacy violations, and child protection laws in India.
The Kottiyam police in Kollam, Keralam, have arrested a man following a complaint filed by his wife, who alleged that he secretly recorded their private moments and uploaded them on adult websites. The accused, who had gone into hiding after the case was registered, was apprehended by the police, presented before the court, and remanded to judicial custody.
According to the complaint, the couple, who had been residing in the UK for several years after a decade-long relationship, returned to their hometown recently. The woman stated that her husband engaged in severe domestic abuse when she confronted him after discovering that private recordings made during their time abroad were shared online without her consent.
