Keralam government reconstitutes GIDA general council
The Kerala government has reconstituted the general council for the Goshree Islands Development Authority (GIDA) to oversee infrastructure projects. The authority is currently focused on constructing an outer bund to mitigate coastal erosion and flooding in the Kochi backwaters.

The members of the council include Ernakulam MP Hibi Eden; MLAs Tony Chammany, T.J. Vinod and Mohammed Shiyas; Mayor V.K. Minimol; Acquiline Lopez, president of Mulavukad grama panchayat; M.S. Antony, president of Kadamakudy grama panchayat; Benny Bernad, president of Elankunnapuzha grama panchayat; Asha Paulose, president of Njarakkal grama panchayat; Joby Varghese, president of Nayarambalam grama panchayat; Vivek Haridas, member of the Ernakulam District Panchayat; M.J. Tomy; C.J. George; A.P. Antony; T.K. Shaheer; K.I. Abdul Rasheed; the Ernakulam District Collector; the Secretary of the Kochi Corporation; the District Town Planner; and the Executive Engineer (Roads and Bridges) of the Public Works department, according to a release.
