Why it matters
The detention of journalists raises significant concerns regarding press freedom and the government's transparency in handling public protests.
Communist Party of India (CPI) Rajya Sabha MP P. Sandosh Kumar on Monday wrote to Union Home Minister Amit Shah demanding the police to stop the harassment and detention of journalists in Delhi covering the protests demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar over vote theft allegations.
