Kerala University to establish Ganapati Sastri Chair

Kerala University is establishing the Ganapati Sastri Chair to honor the late Sanskrit scholar and manuscriptologist T. Ganapati Sastri. The initiative aims to promote research in ancient texts and digitize rare palm-leaf manuscripts.

Kerala University will establish a special academic chair named Ganapati Sastri Chair in memory of the distinguished Sanskrit scholar and manuscriptologist T. Ganapati Sastri on the occasion of his death centenary.
Vice Chancellor in-charge Mohanan Kunnummal made the announcement while inaugurating a national seminar jointly organised by the Manuscript Library and the Oriental Research Institute at the Karyavattom campus.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Kunnummal said that Ganapati Sastri’s contributions were unparalleled, particularly in recovering and presenting to the world rare Indian texts such as the Bhasa’s plays and Kautilya’s Arthashastra.
