The Kerala University Syndicate has decided to explore the possibility of entrusting the Kerala Public Service Commission (PSC) with the appointment of teachers in aided colleges. The decision was taken at the Syndicate meeting held on Monday. The Syndicate entrusted its sub-committee on aided college teaching and non-teaching staff to study the proposal and submit its recommendations.
During the meeting, some members expressed concerns over the financial burden incurred by teachers seeking promotion due to the requirement to appoint subject experts to selection/screening committees. Vice-Chancellor in-charge Mohanan Kunnummal, who chaired the meeting, attributed the situation to certain improper practices that are allegedly followed in aided college appointments, while adding that eligible teachers should receive promotions in due course.
