Kerala State Road Transport Corporation launches cargo service to increase non-ticket revenue

The Kerala State Road Transport Corporation’s (KSRTC) cargo service has made a strong debut, transporting one tonne of mobile phones from Thiruvananthapuram to Aluva in its inaugural consignment.
The consignment, flown from Delhi to Thiruvananthapuram International Airport by Air India, was transported to Aluva in a truck hired by the KSRTC. Transport Minister C.P. John flagged off the cargo service at a function held at the Thiruvananthapuram Domestic Airport cargo terminal in on Wednesday (October 7, 2026).
Speaking after the inaugural function, the Minister said that this project, included in the government’s 100-day action plan, marked a significant milestone in KSRTC’s history. The cargo service, launching with five vehicles in the initial phase, would be expanded gradually. This new system would help strengthen KSRTC’s existing logistics network and boost non-ticket revenue, he said, adding that the KSRTC would eventually evolve to operate a large fleet comprising over a hundred trucks.
