Death toll in rain-related incidents over the past four days in the State has risen to 25 while four people remain missing.

Although the intensity of the rain has subsided for the time being, the State is bracing for another round of intense spells by this weekend, aided by the low-pressure area over the Bay of Bengal. The India Meteorological Department’s (IMD) extended forecast also indicates heavy rainfall in areas in central Travancore, including Ernakulam, Idukki and parts of Kottayam, as well as in four districts of northern Kerala - Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod. The rest of the State is likely to receive above-normal rainfall, except Thiruvananthapuram and parts of Kollam.
