The Traffic and Road Safety Management wing of the police said that it has observed an increasing tendency among two-wheeler riders on various roads in Kerala, particularly National Highways, to drive keeping to the right side of the road and often hugging the median.
All road users, including women riders, do this under the mistaken belief that driving close to the median is safer. This is a violation of traffic rules and lack of awareness among people seems to be causing accidents, it pointed out.
The lane traffic system is the practice of arranging vehicles into separate lanes to ensure smooth traffic flow. Maintaining lane discipline helps reduce congestion and prevent accidents.
