The Kerala High Court has directed the Additional Chief Secretary (Home) (ACS)and the Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau (VACB) to produce documents connected to the allegations against Director General of Police (DGP) S. Sreejith.
A Single Bench of Justice A. Badharudeen was considering a petition by Dipin Edavana, an Assistant Motor Vehicles Inspector from Malappuram, alleging corrupt practices and abuse of authority by Mr. Sreejith. The petition challenged an order by the ACS to the VACB stating that a Vigilance investigation was not warranted “as of now” on Mr. Edavana’s complaints, observing that they were “generalised and speculative” in nature. The court called for records mentioned in Mr. Edavana’s representation before the VACB, also forwarded to the ACS, to be submitted in a sealed cover. The court directed the authorities concerned to file their statements or objections, if any, in the meantime.
