Kerala Chief Minister calls on Catholicos at Devalokam
Kerala Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan visited the headquarters of the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church in Kottayam for a formal meeting with Catholicos Baselios Marthoma Mathews III. The visit focused on building rapport between the new government and the Church leadership.

Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan on Sunday visited the Devalokam Catholicate Aramana, the headquarters of the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church, in Kottayam.
Arriving at the Church headquarters around 7 p.m., the Chief Minister was accorded a formal reception by Catholicos Baselios Marthoma Mathews III, head of the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church and other senior prelates. Mr. Satheesan offered floral tributes at the tombs of former heads of the Church before holding a brief meeting with the Catholicos.
It was Mr. Satheesan’s first visit to the Church headquarters after assuming office as Chief Minister. He was accompanied by legislators Chandy Oommen, Reji Cherian, and Abin Varkey.
