The union announced that the industrial action is set to begin on Monday, July 20, and will involve employees at the Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA), Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) and airlines.
Addressing the press on Friday, July 17, KAWU officials noted that the strike has been triggered by what they described as 'persistent violations of Collective Bargaining Agreements (CBAs)' by the four institutions.
The union is now demanding immediate intervention to resolve the dispute , warning that failure to address workers' grievances could disrupt operations at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) and other airports.
